i think being honest is a great thing whatever you see around you , whatever people you treat just be honest. let us talk about " what does honesty means ? ".
honesty is a very pure word in it's meaning.

recently , i faced a lot of problems and i was so upset because of that but after logical thinking i said whatever happened "i don't care ".
when you do your best and you expect being respected appreciated but suddenly you found that you are the most bad person in other's eye and you begin to revise all your actions and ask yourself "what did i do" i made everything just to be loyal ,honest.
after that you say "i will never be honest , they didn't feel what i did so being honest or not wont change anything".
one minute please you did all of that to be honest , loyal , respected in other's eye ? not in front of Allah ??.
yeah that is the point you are doing your best as that's your role and no matter what is the reward , you are waiting your real reward from Allah :).
